00:00You can certainly relate to this story here.
00:02You have a quarterback in the National Football League that's drafted high
00:04and gets a second chance, gets a third chance, gets a fourth chance.
00:09And man, whatever chances he got, he made the most of them.
00:12Sam Darnold goes from what could have been a busted NFL career.
00:16Number three overall pick with the New York Jets.
00:19Certainly didn't work out there.
00:20Goes to the Panthers and signed by the 49ers.
00:24And I feel like, I don't know, Ryan, do you feel like that was really the key
00:27when he went to San Francisco?
00:28Something sort of clicked.
00:30The Vikings really, you know, I thought that he would do a fantastic job
00:34and stay with them.
00:35That didn't happen.
00:36He goes to Seattle.
00:37He wins a Super Bowl.
00:37This is a story well-traveled at quarterback.
00:40No, it's incredible.
00:42It's an incredible story.
00:44To your point, like I know I can relate to having that anchor, you know,
00:49that can weigh you down as being a draft bust or have high expectations
00:55and not meet them.
00:56I think it speaks to his mental toughness, incredible fortitude to get through
01:02that process.
01:04And then even to get to that place where you go and win 14 games a year ago
01:09and a team still says, nope, not good enough.
01:12Well, Seattle thought he was good enough.
01:14Seattle brought him in, supported him, brought in Clint Kubiak,
01:18who that's where he made that introduction in San Francisco with Clint.
01:23Clint thought he was more than capable of getting it done, and clearly,
01:25as you've seen throughout the entire year, he had incredible playoffs.
01:29And he is a quarterback from that draft class.
01:32If you would have said that it wasn't going to be Josh Allen,
01:34it wasn't going to be Lamar Jackson, both MVPs, but Sam Darnold,
01:38who had hoisted the Lombardi as a starting quarterback.
01:40First, I would say you were crazy, but there you are.
01:42What a great job on his part to continue to work, make it a day-to-day thing.
01:46I mean, I'm really, really proud of him and excited to see his future.
