00:06Welcome to MojoPlays and do you want this stick? You sure? Okay, do 16,000 push-ups in one setting
00:11and marry my firstborn daughter. Also, I don't have a daughter and I lost my genitals in the bin.
00:15These are the 20 hardest items to unlock in PS2 games. Let's do it.
00:20Before we continue, we publish content all week long, so be sure to subscribe and ring
00:24the bell to get notified of our latest videos. Gold slash Silver Pipe Silent Hill 3
00:37Silent Hill 3 hides two of its strangest weapons behind a joke most players could easily walk
00:42straight past. After finishing the game once, start a new playthrough and examine a particular
00:46pool of water in the sewer. Heather can throw her normal steel pipe into it, at which point a fairy
00:50appears and starts questioning you about what you dropped. Answer honestly and she hands over both
00:55the gold pipe and silver pipe. It sounds like the beginning of some powerful new game plus reward,
01:00but neither weapon is actually stronger than the standard pipe, so the prize for beating the game
01:04is pretty much just cosmetic. It's not hard to do once you've been told how to do it, but if
01:09I just
01:09said it exists and I left you in a room and you couldn't leave until you found it and you
01:12had nothing
01:13but a PS2 in a chair, you'd die. Exquisite Rose Nebula We Love Katamari
01:32Few games have ever asked for this much effort while openly admitting it was pointless.
01:36We Love Katamari includes a side challenge where you must collect one million roses, which takes
01:41an absurd amount of time, even by completionist standards. Players come up with schedules,
01:46grinding routines and even rubber band controller tricks so the Katamari can keep rolling while
01:51they go off and live normal human lives. Eventually, if you somehow reach the full million,
01:55the roses form the exquisite Rose Nebula and you get a bonus song. That's about it.
02:01Well done, enjoy your prize, if you can call it that.
02:08The minigun Urban Chaos Riot Response
02:11Urban Chaos Riot Response makes its best toy something you receive after you've already done
02:21basically everything. Across the campaign, medals are awarded for things like finding collectibles,
02:26taking enemies down non-lethally and clearing missions on tougher settings.
02:30Those medals normally unlock useful gear as you progress, but the final reward
02:34sits behind all 204 of them. A minigun that replaces your pistol. It's ridiculously powerful
02:40and exactly the kind of weapon you'd want while tearing through the burner gang. The issue is
02:45that by the time you earn it, you've already cleaned up nearly every challenge in the game,
02:49so what's the point?
02:57Black Suit Ultimate Spider-Man
03:05The black suit in Ultimate Spider-Man is not an unlock, it's a checklist from hell.
03:10Beating the story once only gets you through the front door. After that, you still need every one
03:14of the 190 hidden tokens, all 100 city events, at least bronze in each of the 60 races and 36
03:19combat
03:20challenges. None of these requirements are especially mysterious, but together they are
03:24meant to nearly stripping the entire map clean. Much like our last entry, by the time the symbiote
03:29suit finally becomes available, you've already seen most of what the game has to offer. It looks
03:33fantastic, obviously, but there's something slightly cruel about receiving your coolest outfit
03:37once there's barely anywhere left to wear it.
03:46Formula Gran Turismo, Gran Turismo 4
03:56Formula Gran Turismo in Gran Turismo 4 is tied to the victory in Norbergring 24 hours, which is every
04:02bit as unreasonable as it sounds. B-Spec can take some of the workload off your hands and
04:07speed sections up, but this is still a massive commitment on original hardware. The Norbergring
04:12is already one of the longest and most demanding circuits in the game, and now you're being asked
04:16to survive an endurance event built around it. At that point, the form of the Gran Turismo almost
04:20has to be incredible. Anything less would make the whole ordeal feel personally insulting.
04:29Ultima Weapon Kingdom Hearts
04:37Getting the Ultima Weapon in Kingdom Hearts means spending a surprising amount of time pretending the
04:41game is about crafting instead of saving worlds. I don't remember crafting a single thing in this game,
04:46and it was still super easy. It's the 25th synthesis item, so the recipe only appears after you've already
04:51made everything before it. Then you need a pile of rare materials, including Lucid Gems, Power Gems,
04:56Thunder Gems, Gale, and the especially annoying Mystery Goo. That last one comes from White Mushrooms,
05:01which means repeatedly finding them and correctly responding to their little gesture routine.
05:06Also, getting Mystery Goo from White Mushrooms feels like a joke, whatever. Gale is also tied to
05:12Late Game Heartless, so none of this happens quickly. The weapon itself is excellent, but is it worth the time?
05:17It's not my goo brother. Dragon SP Yakuza 2
05:30Infinite Ammo sounds amazing, until you see what Yakuza 2 wants in return. The Dragon SP only becomes
05:37available after clearing the game on X-HARD, which itself sits beyond your first serious playthrough.
05:42In that setting, enemies punish mistakes harder, ordinary fights become far less forgiving,
05:46and boss encounters can turn into lengthy lessons in humility.
05:49Kyu is still a monster in close combat, but X-HARD makes sure you prove it over and over again.
05:54Once you finally finish the run, the game hands you a handgun that never needs reloading or ammunition.
05:59It's wildly overpowered, sure, but fun? Yeah, it is.
06:06Fire Truck Burnout 3 Takedown
06:18The fire truck in Burnout 3 Takedown is a reward for becoming far too good at ruining traffic. To unlock
06:24it, you need to collect every crash headline, which means revisiting the game's crash events
06:27and meeting all their specific targets. What starts as glorious chaos quickly becomes strangely precise.
06:33You're no longer just smashing into traffic and hoping for the best. You're worrying about launch
06:36angles, impact points, and whether that bus is going to create enough secondary carnage. The wider Crash
06:42mode grind is huge as well, with other vehicles tied to enormous crash dollar totals. Eventually,
06:47you stop thinking like a racer and start thinking like a film director.
06:55Dragovian Kingsword Dragon Quest VIII
07:00By the time the Dragovian Kingsword enters the picture in Dragon Quest VIII, you're already well
07:05past anything resembling normal progression. First, you need to access the Dragovian Trials, where the
07:09game starts serving up some of the nastiest post-game fights. Then, there's the alchemy requirement,
07:14which means gathering rare materials and knowing the exact recipe, including the Dragovian Sword
07:18itself. None of this is happening by accident while you wander around farming slimes. You need a strong
07:23party, solid gear, and enough patience to keep pushing through late-game content.
07:39Welcome to our second Kingdom Hearts entry, but definitely not our last Square Enix entry.
07:44Fenrir comes from Tifa in Kingdom Hearts II, but she's not exactly giving it away for free. Before
07:49she hands over the Keyblade, Sora has to defeat Sephiroth in one of the game's nastiest optional battles.
07:54He attacks almost immediately, teleports constantly, chains together brutal combos,
07:58and has enough health to make early attempts feel completely hopeless. The fight rewards good timing,
08:03solid defense, and a proper understanding of Sora's movement options, rather than simple button
08:08mashing. Once Sephiroth finally goes down, you'll be too tired to even want to use the weapon.
08:16Super Dante Costume, Devil May Cry 3, Dante's Awakening
08:20Devil May Cry 3 saves one of its most ridiculous rewards for people who've already mastered the game.
08:33Beat Dante must die mode and you unlock Super Dante, a costume that gives you effectively unlimited regular
08:38Devil Trigger. Naturally earning that privilege means surviving the difficulty where the game
08:42becomes torture. At that point, every sloppy dodge or mistimed attack gets punished fast.
08:47The irony is pretty obvious. If you're capable of finishing Dante must die, you probably don't need
08:52this version of Dante at all. And another irony is that almost all these entries are going to end with
08:57this exact same realization. Wait, is that irony? No, it's crap. Yeah, it's crap.
09:09The Queen Sword Shadow of the Colossus
09:17The Queen Sword is one of the coolest rewards in Shadow of the Colossus, but the root to it is
09:22brutal.
09:23You first need New Game Plus just to access Time Attack, then push into Hard Time Attack and beat all
09:2816
09:29Colossi within their individual limits. That turns familiar fights into stressful little disasters where
09:33every stumble matters. A Colossus shaking at the wrong moment, Wanda missing a grip or one awkward fall,
09:39can wipe out an otherwise perfect run. There's no single impossible battle here, it's the pressure
09:45of doing all 16 well enough. When the sword finally unlocks, its enormous damage feels like a wonderful tool
09:50for beating the game again. Damn it.
10:02Blue Wig Metal Gear Solid 2 Sons of Liberty
10:06Freeze! No!
10:07Raiden's Blue Wig in Metal Gear Solid 2 is hidden behind one of the strangest collectibles of the PS2 era,
10:13Dog Tags. In the original release, you need at least 218 Dog Tags and then have to finish the game.
10:19Getting them means holding guards up properly and shaking down enough soldiers across multiple
10:23difficulty settings, since different tags appear on different runs. So instead of simply sneaking past
10:27enemies, you're repeatedly stopping them to collect tiny pieces of jewellery like the world's most
10:31heavily armed customs officer. The reward makes Raiden breathe underwater. Which is fantastic,
10:37for about 10 minutes of the whole game.
10:45The Sight and Gret Bow Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age
10:53Final Fantasy XII hides one of its strongest weapons behind pure chance, and absolutely no useful visual
10:59clue. The Sight and Gret can appear on the Sky Fairy, but the chest containing it is invisible, so most
11:04players would never think to check the spot that it's hiding invisibly in the first place.
11:10But don't worry, the game gives plenty of clues about the invisible chest. No, wait, I got that
11:14wrong. The game gives zero clues about the invisible chest. Even if you know exactly where it is, there's
11:18only around 1% chance that the chest will spawn. Then you still need to beat another layer of luck,
11:23because the bow only has about a 20% chance of being inside of that chest that only has a
11:271% chance
11:28of spawning. It's an absurdly powerful weapon, but getting one naturally requires patience,
11:32luck, and probably a growing suspicion that the game is actively messing with you.
11:42String of Beads Okami
11:53Okami scatters a hundred stray beads across its world, and the string of beads only unlocks once
11:58you've collected every last one and finished the game. Some are easy to grab, but plenty are buried
12:02behind side quests, optional challenges, hidden areas, and minigames that can eat up a ridiculous
12:07amount of time. The payoff is enormous. Amaterasu becomes invisible, gets unlimited ink,
12:13and deals 10 times normal damage. That turns future play into absolute destruction. The only
12:18catch is obvious, and I refuse to bring it up again. Dammit, I can't help myself,
12:22there's nothing left to do once you've got it.
12:26Neversoft Skateboard Guitar Guitar Hero 3 Legends of Rock
12:34The Neversoft Skateboard Guitar in Guitar Hero 3 is locked behind a very specific kind of misery.
12:40Two-player competence. You need to five-star the entire expert co-op career, so both players have to
12:46survive some of the game's harder songs without either person completely falling apart. That's tricky
12:52enough on its own, but in 2007 it also meant having a second plastic guitar and another human being nearby
12:56who's actually good at the game. One rough section from either player could sink the score. After all that,
13:02your prize is a guitar shaped like a skateboard, which is appropriately ridiculous. Earning it required
13:07coordination, patience, and at least one friendship strong enough to survive expert mode.
13:16Stealth Camouflage Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater
13:21Metal Gear Solid 3 hides 64 keratin frogs across the entire game, and shooting every one unlocks
13:28Stealth Camouflage. Early on, it's almost relaxing. You spot a little frog on a crate,
13:33pop it, hear the silly noise, and you move on. Later, Kojima apparently decides it's far too pleasant.
13:39Some frogs appear during high-speed motorcycle sections, forcing you to scan the scenery while
13:43enemies are shooting and everything is flying past you. Miss one and there's no handy tracker explaining
13:48where you went wrong. You just reach the ending empty-handed and start mentally replaying the entire
13:53campaign. Without a guide, good luck. Some of these are pretty silly.
14:05Venus Sigil Final Fantasy X
14:07Are you alright? Now there's a scene for posterity.
14:15Nothing about Lulu's Venus Sigil sounds reasonable once you reach the number 200. In Final Fantasy X,
14:21you need to dodge 200 lightning strikes consecutively in the Thunderplanes without getting hit, leaving
14:26the area, or using a save sphere. There's no mercy system either. Get clipped at 198 and the counter
14:32returns straight to zero. Players eventually discovered reliable spots where the lightning timing becomes
14:37easier to predict, but doing it naturally means staring at the screen for ages and reacting to every
14:42flash. The higher the count climbs, the more stressful even basic human movement becomes.
14:47But 190, someone coughing nearby, suddenly feels like an act of sabotage.
14:54Dragon Massacre Monster Hunter
15:01The Dragon Massacre in Monster Hunter earns its name, but getting one means turning Wrathions and
15:07Rathalos into an endangered species. Crafting it required five Wrathion plates and five Wrathalos
15:13plates, and each plate has an absurdly low drop rate at around 1%. That means even if you're perfectly
15:19capable of killing both monsters, the game can still refuse to give you what you need for hours, days,
15:24months if you're unlucky. There's no clever shortcut or hidden trick. You simply keep hunting, carving,
15:30and hoping that the random number gods finally stop laughing at you. Ten rare plates might not sound
15:35outrageous written down, but when every successful hunt ends with another pile of useless materials,
15:40that number starts to look genuinely threatening.
15:48The Hand Cannon Resident Evil 4
15:51The hand cannon in Resident Evil 4 is reserved for players who are willing to master the mercenaries
16:01rather than simply dabble in it. You need a five-star rating on every stage with every character.
16:05Which means 20 separate high-level runs. Each fighter has different weapons, strengths,
16:09and weaknesses, so you can't just learn one strategy and repeat it. You need to know enemy spawns,
16:14keep combos alive, deal with tough enemies, and hit the required score consistently. Leon is already
16:20enough trouble for plenty of players, and then four more characters are waiting just behind him.
16:24When the Hand Cannon finally unlocks, it's a celebration deserving of a Smutram Ashley. Or Louise.
