00:11Welcome to Mojo Plays, and today we're looking at all the biggest announcements from Nintendo's 40th Anniversary Direct for The
00:18Legend of Zelda,
00:19including new details about the upcoming Ocarina of Time remake.
00:30But before we dive in, we publish new content all week long, so be sure to subscribe and ring the
00:35bell to get notified about our latest videos.
00:39A small movie update.
00:49Although we didn't get a trailer or even a teaser for the upcoming live-action adaptation, we did get a
00:55brief update from Shigeru Miyamoto.
00:57He reiterated that the movie was releasing exclusively in theaters on April 30th, 2027,
01:03but also revealed that, unlike many of the games, the movie has no subtitle.
01:07Once you see the film, you'll understand why there isn't a subtitle.
01:11It will seemingly tell an original story that pulls from various elements across the series,
01:16and he teased how important a role the Triforce specifically would play.
01:20The adaptation, which is directed by Wes Ball and stars Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link,
01:26and Bo Brageson as Zelda, wrapped filming in New Zealand this past April.
01:30But we'll still have to wait before we get a clear look at the project.
01:34This is an original film based on the many stories, ideas, and concepts of the series,
01:41built up through the games for 40 years.
01:45Release date and a new model.
01:53Nintendo got the gaming world buzzing when it announced the Ocarina of Time remake,
01:57with everyone aching to know when they could get their hands on it.
02:00Well, now we know.
02:02In addition to showing off more of the game, Nintendo announced it will be released on November 5th,
02:062026, showing it isn't too worried about competing with GTA 6.
02:11It's somewhat significant, though, as the original Ocarina of Time launched the same month in 1998.
02:17There will be several other official goodies released in honor of the game,
02:21most prominent of which is a new model for the Nintendo Switch 2, launching on October 29th.
02:26Available the same day will be a new Pro Controller and Carrion Case.
02:30Similar to the original's limited edition gold cartridge,
02:33players can pre-order a special foil cover art version while supplies last.
02:38That's great stuff, kid! Come on, ya! I'm real impressed!
02:43Zelda in Concert
02:44The Anniversary Direct began with an incredible orchestral performance,
02:49featuring a medley of iconic tunes from across the Zelda series.
02:53As it turns out, this was more than just a way to celebrate the franchise's music.
02:57Koji Kondo, who has worked on the series' music since the beginning,
03:00later appeared and announced Nintendo would be holding a series of concerts
03:04to celebrate 40 years of The Legend of Zelda.
03:06Specific dates were announced for Japan in 2027,
03:10with dates for North America, Europe, and Australia to be revealed at a later date sometime next year.
03:16Considering how beloved the franchise's music is, that sounds like a once-in-a-lifetime event.
03:21The Zelda Celebration
03:23Let's talk about the Nintendo Museum in Kyoto, Japan.
03:27I promise I'll get to the actual game soon, but Nintendo has plenty more planned in honor of the franchise's
03:3340th anniversary.
03:35There's a limited-time event at the Nintendo Museum in Kyoto, Japan, running around a year,
03:40and a new restaurant opening there in fall of 2026, featuring a huge statue of Link among characters from other
03:47franchises.
03:47Nintendo also has a ton of promotional merchandise planned, including an official Ocarina of Time,
03:54a Minoru Amiibo, and a Lego set of Link riding Epona, their third collaboration so far.
04:00However, release dates and prices were not announced at the time of riding.
04:04The Super Family Restaurant
04:06Link also appears in the restaurant.
04:08From the Ground Up
04:23As we knew, Ocarina of Time is a completely from-the-ground-up remake,
04:28and we now have a good sense of what it will look like.
04:31Environments look much grander and highly detailed, as do character models,
04:36featuring great little details like the feather in Link's cap.
04:39It's interesting to see how this will play into world design, too,
04:42like a redone segment in the game's first dungeon where Link gets the slingshot.
04:47Hyrule Castle Town in particular looks fantastic,
04:50packed with more NPCs than the original, who also have more dynamic movement.
04:54The back alleyways are now connected to the main area,
04:57and time now moves forward in town instead of standing still.
05:01In the original game, time actually stopped flowing whenever you were in town.
05:06But in this game, time marches on.
05:08No matter where you are.
05:09Zelda Notes and Amiibo
05:11Hidemaru Fujibayashi, director of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom,
05:16appeared to tell players about some additional ways to connect with the Ocarina of Time remake.
05:21The Zelda Notes app will be getting a huge update.
05:24In addition to tracking a variety of stats,
05:26players can save screenshots of certain achievements and receive hints towards hidden rewards.
05:31Collecting rewards also gets points towards unlocking songs that you can play on a digital Ocarina,
05:37though you can also create your own to share with friends.
05:40Players can quiz themselves on over 2,000 questions about the game,
05:44and if Zelda Notes isn't your thing,
05:46there are also Amiibo for Young Link and Young Zelda planned for 2027,
05:51which unlock in-game masks.
05:53Playing with the Ocarina
06:00As you probably noticed, the new look at gameplay also came with completely reworked music.
06:06It all sounds incredible, unsurprisingly,
06:08but there's also a change to how music works as an in-game mechanic.
06:13Link can play the Ocarina of Time with buttons, as he normally does,
06:16but for a bit more fun, you can also hum the notes,
06:20which the Switch 2 tablet or Pro Controller's microphone can pick up.
06:24Producer Eiji Aonuma also demonstrated how the official Ocarina of Time can be used to connect with the game,
06:30so you can really play the songs like Link.
06:37Voice Acting
06:50As most probably already thought,
06:53the Ocarina of Time remake will feature voice acting.
06:55Although, similar to Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom,
06:58it will be kept to cutscenes.
07:00We heard snippets from several characters,
07:02including Zelda, Darunia, Impa, and the new Navi,
07:06who's a little less shrill than her original counterpart.
07:12We got to hear Ganondorf,
07:14with Matt Mercer officially reprising the role after appearing in Tears of the Kingdom.
07:18We only got a taste of these performances,
07:20and it will be interesting to see what other characters sound like.
07:23Although, it does seem like Link will, as always, remain silent.
07:28Now this world and the Triforce belong to me.
07:33Upgraded UI
07:34Another big update is coming to the game's UI,
07:37which looks much more streamlined.
07:39The menu is divided between Collection, Equipment, Items, and System.
07:43Link can cycle through his current equipped item,
07:46which shows in the top right corner of the screen during gameplay.
07:49This is similar to more recent games in the series,
07:52like Cycling Through Weapons in Breath of the Wild,
07:54meaning you won't always need to pause to equip something.
07:57We also noticed, thankfully,
07:59that the Iron Boots are being kept as equippable items,
08:01like they were in the 3DS remake.
08:04However, there's also a new feature called the Threads of Time,
08:07which seems to keep track of Link's questlines,
08:09while filling out a tapestry of Hyrule.
08:12Updated Gameplay
08:13This is The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time for Nintendo Switch 2.
08:18As to be expected with any From the Ground Up remake,
08:21Ocarina of Time is getting a nice update to controls and mechanics,
08:24in addition to the visual overhaul.
08:27Some of these updates are small, but to be expected,
08:30such as a completely dynamic camera system
08:32and the removal of static camera angles,
08:34like the one in Hyrule Castle Town.
08:36Others make Link's movement much more fluid,
08:39like adapting the Wild Era Link's ability to jump,
08:42and holding A to start sprinting after a roll,
08:45an inclusion that also called out something we all did
08:48to make it across Hyrule Field faster in the original.
08:50There are likely still more little tweaks and updates
08:53to make the game fresh that have yet to be revealed,
08:56but we don't have much longer to wait to see for ourselves.
09:06Are you excited for the Ocarina of Time remake?
