00:00I want to zero in specifically on the New York Giants.
00:03The team has already made a big decision in moving off Brian Dable.
00:06And anything that you may be hearing out of New York,
00:10as people believe this could be an incredibly attractive job,
00:13Jackson Dart, Malik Neighbors, Cam Scadaboo, Abdul Carter,
00:17what are you hearing around the Giants?
00:19Yeah, you know what's interesting?
00:22I tried to explain this to you yesterday on PFT.
00:27First of all, the Giants and other teams,
00:29a lot of them are looking at defensive names.
00:32Well, why?
00:32Because this year's overall crop of offense,
00:34and if you see my list that I've been given from various league sources,
00:38not a great list for offense.
00:40And that's why you're going to hear the names of defensive guys
00:44who are pretty talented.
00:46Chris Shula, Jeff Halfley, who, by the way,
00:49the Green Bay defense coordinator,
00:50he was the head coach at Boston College.
00:52Clubs like that, from what I'm told.
00:54Robert Sala, Anthony Campanelli, offensive guys.
00:58Matt Nagy, as I told you a couple months ago,
01:01Tennessee's very intrigued with.
01:03Clint Kubiak's going to be out there, who's the OC for Seattle.
01:06They're a defensive club, but he's in that system.
01:09Everybody loves that system.
01:11So there are a lot of defensive names out there.
01:13Guys, we'll have more names for you as we go forward.
01:15But this year's group of defensive head coach candidates
01:18is actually very impressive.
01:20Cap, I'm looking at your list now,
01:22and I do want to just bring up one
01:24because I do find this pretty intriguing.
01:27You have on the safe list,
01:29I know you have Aaron Glenn, but Zach Taylor.
01:32And so talk to me about that situation
01:34because I think Kevin and I are in agreement
01:36just based off of the disappointments
01:39that maybe the team would move on from Zach Taylor.
01:43No, but here, Joe, here's the thing.
01:45This is a good discussion here.
01:48When clubs decide whether they're going to move on
01:50from head coach or not,
01:51they look at every single piece of information.
01:53Why are we bad this season?
01:55What were the issues?
01:56How was our play calling?
01:57How was our personnel?
01:59How was the injury situation?
02:01The defensive personnel for many years
02:02has been well below average.
02:04Trey Hendrickson had a major injury.
02:06He was dealing with groin problems, hip problems.
02:09He just couldn't get healthy.
02:11So you're talking about their best defensive player
02:13not being healthy at all this season.
02:15Well, that's a major problem.
02:16They haven't drafted particularly well
02:17on the defensive side of football
02:18where they've been phenomenal drafting on offense
02:21with Duke Tobin, who's their personnel director
02:24who generally makes the calls.
02:25So look, they fired Lou Anarumo.
02:28He's done a good job with the Colts.
02:30And they brought in Al Golden.
02:31The defense for the most part
02:32has not been very competitive.
02:33Lately a little better.
02:35But it's not a head coaching issue,
02:37as I understand it.
02:37It's a defensive problem,
02:40specifically with personnel.
02:42And they've got to improve that side of the football.
02:43It's hard to fire a head coach
02:45when he doesn't pick the players.
02:49I don't know Zach Taylor.
02:50I call everything down the middle.
02:51I don't know this guy.
02:52But I know the way that clubs think, Joe,
02:54to answer your question.
02:55I'd be surprised if he was canon.
02:57I know Joe Burrow loves him.
02:58I just don't see it happening.
03:00I know some Bengals fans are fed up.
03:02You need to talk about their front office.
03:04They've got to do a better job
03:04of adding better defensive play.
