00:00They did, in fact, alert all of us to the fact that, you know, behind the scenes, Major League Baseball
00:06is doing its damnedest to try to negotiate with the players union here.
00:11So come December 2nd, you know, we've got we've got some talks going, but call me.
00:18I have no idea what the hell they're even offering or talking about.
00:22Now, I get it. You want to roll back the clock and go back to the 1920s to 1960s,
00:29which I don't know if a lot of people even understand, Craig.
00:31There was never one hundred and sixty two games back in that era.
00:35It was one hundred and fifty four games and then it got changed once the money became available.
00:41So they want to roll that back to one hundred and fifty four games, which I'm OK.
00:46That means everyone gets a day off and everyone complaining about the health of these great hundred and fifty four
00:53games.
00:53What I cannot wrap my head around is this circus act of you get to pick who your opponent is
01:02in the postseason.
01:03Craig, what is that load of crap that so what what some and so what what is this exactly?
01:10What happened? Can't we just recede after each one?
01:14Why am I why does anybody get to pick who their opponent would be in the post?
01:18I don't even know how that would work, Craig, to be honest.
01:22Yeah, I feel like we we talked about this a couple of days ago on on some of these issues.
01:27So isn't that interesting?
01:28But yeah, so I I think well, well, first of all, we we did allude to the possibility of a
01:35shorter regular season a couple of days ago and a long and a longer postseason.
01:39So that has come to pass. And I think regardless of when or how this new CBA gets done, I
01:46think we are headed toward a one hundred and fifty four major leagues baseball season and extended postseason.
01:51Maybe not initially in twenty twenty seven, but as they said, in twenty eight or twenty nine, whenever that comes
01:55to pass, I think it's a great idea.
01:57I think you can get more money off playoff games.
02:00Players stand to make more money also with playoff shares, which is what the owners are offering.
02:05Now, as far as that is concerned, it feels like they're trying to create an event.
02:12To me, that's what it sounds like, is they're trying to create a separate event.
02:16It sounds like they're trying to create a buzz type event.
02:21I don't know how this will be received.
02:23I don't know if it'll work.
02:24Remember, all these things have to go through the Players Association, too.
02:28But it does make things funny and it would create conversation, Joe, on shows like ours where why did they
02:35pick this team to play?
02:36Wow, did that burn them or wow, that was a great choice.
02:41I think any attention is good attention and I don't know how this is going to work.
02:47But here is what I would say.
02:48In the last five or six years, we have had so many different things that have come up in terms
02:55of subject matter in baseball.
02:56And the majority of shows like ours have said, why are you making the bases bigger?
03:04Why is there have to be a pitch clock?
03:08Why do we need automated balls and strikes?
03:11And Joe, these things are all working.
03:14They are all working and working very well.
03:17And at the time, I wasn't sure that any of them would work.
03:20So I am going to give baseball the benefit of the doubt in this scenario and say, it seems wacky.
03:27It seems out there.
03:28But I'm going to guess we're going to end up loving it.
03:31And shows like ours are going to end up loving it.
03:34And the debate is going to be talked about.
03:37Dodgers, they win.
03:38Why did they pick Pittsburgh?
03:40Oh, my gosh.
03:41That was a terrible decision to play them.
03:43I don't know.
03:43I think it's out there.
03:46But in the end, I think it'll work.
03:48I think it'll be fun.
03:51It's funny because after this was released by, of course, Major League Baseball, already now that we, again, have one
04:01game remaining here in the divisional series here with the White Sox and the Guardians, Major League Baseball feels like
04:08the PR department was hard at work,
04:10making sure that they got out letting everyone know, hey, by the way, here's, we're making offers, we're doing our
04:18part here.
04:19But the Players Union responded, Craig, in epic fashion by saying, this is all great, because we've talked about shortening
04:27the season and getting, but all of this is only contingent upon the players accepting a salary cap.
04:35Which, once again, which, once again, Greg is going, all of this is all BS until they address what the
04:43elephant in the room is, and nobody's talking about that.
04:47I don't know if this is, you know, an olive branch or, or just trying to, you know, from a,
04:53I don't get it.
04:55You know, you know, what's really interesting with this?
04:58And I, and I'm thinking about it now out loud.
05:01I am wondering, Joe, and I'm going to, and we could do anything we want right now.
05:06I am wondering if I'm going to be allowed to talk about this in December.
05:10I'm not sure.
05:11I, I have to see what my rules are as far as being, I may not be able to.
05:16You might not be able to.
05:16Yep.
05:17I don't know that you and I are going to, I, I, I think I may, I, I don't, I
05:22don't know if I'm going to be able to talk about these, the subject matter.
05:25I'm not sure.
