00:00Well, of all the offenses that we saw bust out last year
00:04that I think is absolutely taking a step back is the Chicago Bears.
00:10And I get it.
00:11Ben Johnson is a, right, he's a offensive genius.
00:15I get it.
00:16And he really did help turn around Caleb Williams,
00:20which was on the verge of total disaster.
00:22And he took a major step forward.
00:24But I think it's two steps forward, three steps back here.
00:29Tom, I am not buying it.
00:31I mean, the reason that they were one of the better producing offenses
00:37is because they mostly trailed heading into the second half
00:41of just about every game, Tom, that mattered.
00:43So all of a sudden they had to.
00:46They got every interception, every fumble.
00:48They had a lot going their way.
00:51But I don't know.
00:53I mean, now what?
00:55Roma Adunzio with Luther Byrd now?
00:58Are you sold on Caleb Williams and Ben Johnson in this offense
01:02having another big year?
01:05I'm sold on them having a big year counting stats, right?
01:09I'm not saying they're going to win as many games.
01:10I'm not saying they're like their defense, to your point last year,
01:14was incredibly lucky.
01:15Like that was what I was essentially referring to,
01:17the variance of turnovers and like things falling.
01:20They got every turnover they could possibly,
01:22every fumble they recovered.
01:23So if other teams, you know, have some of that luck,
01:25they could be a little bit better.
01:26But for the Bears, if that turnover luck regresses
01:30to what we know is going to be the league average
01:32as what we've seen over years at this point,
01:34their offense is going to have to put up yards.
01:36So they may lose more games.
01:38They may lose more of those one-score games.
01:40I think they'll still produce yards and points,
01:42but I think they're actually going to take a step back
01:45in terms of like a real-life football team outcome.
01:47But the yards will be there for these players
01:49because it needs to be there.
01:50Because if those turnovers don't go in their way,
01:53then they're going to have to throw the ball more.
01:56Yeah.
01:58And the problem is,
02:00if you wanted me to really buy Caleb Williams,
02:03then I need to see him stop trying to hit home runs
02:07every time and do, you know, dump it off.
02:11Why don't you get a bunt single every now and then?
02:13Like move the chains instead of everything
02:16trying to be a home run down the field.
02:19At some point, that is going to come and burn you.
02:23And I think this year could be.
02:25You and I did the Black Friday game last year
02:28when they were at Philly.
02:29Yes.
02:29And there was 10 passes.
02:32I was like, you don't have to do that.
02:33Just get the first down.
02:34It's seven yards away.
02:35That's exactly correct, Tom.
02:38And I think they won that game.
02:40Did they win that game?
02:41Like Kyle Monongai and Swift had a big game
02:44and they ended up winning it, I think.
02:45Yes.
02:46I was like, why are you doing this?
02:47Why are you putting yourself in this position?
02:49Don't do that and just be a little more efficient
02:52and you'll be fine.
02:54And you'll be good.
02:55And if he can do that, if he can somehow, Ben Johnson,
02:59get Caleb Williams to understand that, sure,
03:03good things can happen here.
03:04But you're right.
03:05That was the most incredibly frustrating game.
03:08They should have given Swift the ball ever left and right.
03:11They should have given it to him every time.
03:13They couldn't stop the run and yet he's sitting there
03:16trying to throw 60-yard passes.
03:18It made no sense at all.
03:20It made no sense at all.
