00:00I was going back and forth, Tom, trying to figure out because the Browns are another one of those just
00:05terrible teams.
00:06And, you know, it shouldn't shock anybody when you send away a Hall of Famer named Miles Garrett to out
00:13west.
00:13But I will say this, looking over the roster and some of what they have, like the front seven of
00:21the Browns is going to even without Miles Garrett is going to be much better than people realize.
00:27They got first rounder Mason Graham, Malik Collins there, Jared Verse.
00:32Don't forget that trade. Alex Wright went down.
00:36I think he blew his Achilles out. But Derek Barnett, I mean, you go down.
00:42They got linebackers galore. Secondary is not great, but that front seven is really good.
00:48The problem is that quarterback is it they're a worse quarterback room in the NFL, Tom, than what the Browns
00:56have here in that room.
00:58I'm it's close with the Jets, but I think I think the Browns get it done here.
01:04They they probably do. And it's going to have to come down to that defense.
01:09Like you said, with their front seven Carson's question, you're also in the mix there.
01:14It's going to come down to can they insulate the Sean Watson from making mistakes?
01:20Can they put him in spots to dink and dunk, pick up easy first downs?
01:25You know, they got some, you know, rookie wide receivers that they want to utilize.
01:29Harold Fannin, the second year tight end was really a bit of a breakout.
01:32Quinjot Junkins in the backfield. Can they do just enough to not expose Watson,
01:36to need to throw the ball downfield, to need to take seven step drops and have the ball in his
01:41hands for three, four seconds?
01:43Can they make it easy on them? Because frankly, if the defense is good enough, you know, they could cover
01:49more games.
01:49I'm not going to say that they're going to win a ton of games, but if they could be in
01:52just one or two more games,
01:53they may be a sneaky team. You could look to back you or there, because frankly, Joe,
01:58I think the public perception of the Browns and Watson is so low that you could get inflated numbers.
02:03You're getting nine and a half's out there, a 10, you're like, okay, I'll take a shot on a double
02:08digit game in the NFL.
02:09I'll take them to cover a game. They're not going to win, but they can keep it somewhat close.
02:14Ty, I'm with you. I mean, I saw that five and a half win total, and I really wanted to
02:19pull the trigger on the under,
02:20but I keep looking at that defensive side of the ball and going, you know, they can get a couple
02:25of takeaways,
02:26and if Munkin is as good a OC-minded guy, we have seen, you know, we just saw Sam Donald
02:33win a Super Bowl, folks.
02:35So it's not out of the question that the right coach and a little bit of talent and just don't
02:41lose them a game.
02:42I did see, too, this is the only team since 1970 to lose all five of their starting offensive linemen
02:51in the same season from a year ago. They don't have anybody on the roster that was actually supposed to
02:58start last year.
02:59So this is much like college football, I guess, where they have five brand new offensive linemen here looking to
03:06protect them.
03:07And to tell you the truth, given the injuries and the way they, what we saw last, that might not
03:11be a bad thing.
03:12But I'm with you, man. I don't know that I'd run to the window right away and bet under five
03:19and a half,
03:19because I think that defense is probably going to keep them in more games than they should be in.
03:25You know, that's a good point with the offensive linemen.
03:27In college, everyone likes to refer to returning production year over year.
03:33What is the returning production from, you know, one year to the next?
03:37We don't really talk about that in the NFL, because most players are generally signed to contracts,
03:41that it's like, oh, we have four of the five guys returning.
03:43Like, we don't have to really think about this.
03:45You know, eight of the 11 starters on defense return.
03:47But it's a good point to, you know, note that offensive line changes can be a huge thing.
03:52Todd Monken is a great offensive line.
03:54But really, the five and a half win total is so tough, because six wins is objectively not a good
04:01season.
04:02Like, they do go over their win total.
04:03But them having six wins, if we see that at the end of December, beginning of January,
04:08no one's going to be like, oh, wow, what a season by the Browns.
04:10Like, no, they have six wins and double-digit losses.
04:12They'll be a top-ten pick.
04:14And by all accounts, it's a bad year for them.
04:16But it does set up for a really interesting, I don't want to say race to the bottom,
04:20because between the Browns, the Jets, the Dolphins, and the Cardinals,
04:24we're looking at four teams that potentially need franchise quarterbacks.
04:28And the race to the number one pick with how good next year's quarterback class is supposed to be
04:33is going to be very interesting come the end of December and the beginning of January.
